Between Now and Then, 2002-2004 (15 min. video projection 48” X 64” and oil on canvas 48” X 64”)
One of several year-long projects, this work documents the changes that occur in a specific site over the course of one year (January to December 2002). I photographed the site at 2-week intervals over the year and used these as source material to paint one canvas. Each new photo called for changes to be made to the existing painting. In the studio I shot a single frame for every 15 minutes of painting. There are 2 components, the final painting (48” X 64”) which is really many paintings deep and a 15 minute video projection (48” X 64”) which is of the painting process and the passing of one year.
